ACUMED Drill and Guide Wire Policy
MedSource of St. Louis, Inc. adheres to the following procedures
regarding disposal of drills and guide wires. These procedures
are critical to ensure the highest standard of care necessary
when using instrument sets on loan from MedSource of St. Louis,
Inc.
All drills (both solid and cannulated) and guide wires in the Acumed
Instrumentation sets are recommended for single use only. MedSource
of St. Louis, Inc., requests that all facilities discard any
drill bits and wire guides used in any surgical procedure.
All facilities using the Acumed Systems will be charged for the
use of guide wires and drill bits.
Sterilization Method
Acumed implants, instruments and trays may be steam autoclaved
using the following methods:

Prior to steam autoclaving, remove all non autoclavable protective
packaging and labeling. Use caution during storage, loading the
autoclave, and sterilization. Protect the device from scratches.
Hospital blue wrap may be used during sterilization. Please consider
your equipment manufacturer's instructions for the specific sterilizer
and load configuration being used and current AORN standards and
recommended practices.
